KBLC Merauke Children Participate in Kali Maro IV Festival, Learn About and Appreciate Local Culture

02 November 2026

Merauke, 1 October 2026-the Children of the Kitong Bisa Learning Center (KBLC) Merauke participated in the Kali Maro IV Festival as part of a learning experience that introduced them closer to the culture and life of the local Papuan people.

Participation in this festival is a form of contextual learning that provides opportunities for children to get to know the cultural richness in their environment firsthand. Through engaging in cultural activities, children not only gain new experiences, but also learn to understand the values of tradition, togetherness, and cultural identity that are part of the life of the people of Merauke.

This participation is in line with the implementation of the RESPECT curriculum developed in KBF learning activities, especially in cultural aspects. This aspect encourages children to recognize, understand, and appreciate the diversity of cultures and social environments around them.

For KBF, education does not only focus on the learning process in the classroom. Direct experience in the community environment is also an important part in building character, broadening horizons, and fostering children’s self-confidence. By engaging in activities such as the Kali Maro Festival, children gain space to learn through real interactions and experiences.

Through Kblc Merauke, Kitong Bisa Foundation (KBF) continues to provide education that is relevant to children’s lives and local contexts. This approach is part of KBF’s commitment to support the growth and development of young Papuans through learning that not only strengthens knowledge, but also builds character and respect for their cultural identity.

KBF believes that every child has the potential to thrive when gaining access to meaningful education and learning experiences. Therefore, the support and collaboration of various parties is important in creating wider learning opportunities for young Papuans.

Want to support the education and future of young Papuans? Let’s collaborate with Kitong Bisa Foundation to bring more opportunities and meaningful learning experiences.
