Jakarta, October 20, 2026 — the Kitong Bisa Foundation (KBF) held an audience with the Directorate of social and economic independence, Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS), as part of efforts to introduce various initiatives and expand collaboration opportunities in community empowerment, especially in Papua and eastern Indonesia.
During the meeting, KBF introduced the profile of the organization, programs that have been implemented, as well as various empowerment initiatives that focus on Community Capacity Building and strengthening local potential. This audience is also an opportunity for KBF to convey experiences in assisting the community as well as various approaches applied in the implementation of programs in the field.
The discussion took place as an exchange of ideas on community empowerment strategies that are relevant to the conditions and needs of the Papua region. One of the concerns is the importance of development approaches that are not only oriented to the implementation of programs, but also pay attention to the social and economic potential of the community as a foundation in creating sustainable change.
KBF views that community empowerment needs to begin with understanding local characteristics, strengthening the capacity of individuals and communities, and opening access to various economic development opportunities. Thus, the community can take a more active role in managing the potential of the area and determining the direction of development in its environment.
In addition to introducing the programs that have been running, this meeting also became a momentum to explore the potential synergies between KBF and BAPPENAS in supporting the development agenda and Community Empowerment. Cross-sector collaboration is expected to strengthen various initiatives that have been carried out as well as open up wider program development opportunities.
Through this audience, the Kitong Bisa Foundation hopes to build closer communication and cooperation with stakeholders, especially in encouraging the strengthening of social and economic independence of the Papuan people.
For KBF, sustainable development is not only about delivering programs, but also ensuring communities have the capacity, opportunity, and space to thrive. Impactful change begins when local potentials are strengthened and communities become a major part of the development process.
